Cellulose ethers are capable of increasing the viscosity of aqueous media. The viscosity ability of a cellulose ether is primarily controlled by its molecular weight, chemical substituents attached to it, and conformational characteristics of the polymer chain.

APPLICATION
For construction products, cellulose ethers act as thickeners, binders, film formers, and water-retention agents. They also function as suspension aids, surfactants, lubricants, protective colloids, and emulsifiers.
